Any mother will tell you that cloth baby diapers are the most versatile piece of clothing that their babies own. The use of these types of diapers is endless. You do not need to just put them on your baby’s bottom to soak up the messes that babies make, but you can use them for other functions as well. You can use them for burping rags and to wipe baby’s bottom between changes. Some mothers even use them as an alternative to bibs.

Many expectant mothers plan on using disposable diapers. This trend does not last long when they do the math. It does not cost nearly as much to use cloth baby diapers as it does to use disposable ones. Once they start cloth diapering their babies, they begin to see that there are many other uses for their cloth diapers.

Many of these uses are money saving and better for the baby as well. Knowing how to use cloth diapers for other reasons than diapering your baby can make your life easier as well. You can use cloth diapers in place of other items that you would have to purchase, sometimes on a regular basis.

One of the most popular uses is using a cloth baby diaper as a burping rag. Sure you can purchase expensive burping cloths, but why waste the money? Fold a cloth diaper in three and throw it over your shoulder or across your arm. If the baby has a wet burp, your shirt or arm is saved and you can wash the cloth diaper with your baby’s other laundry.

When your baby has a bowel movement, do not grab the baby wipes. Take a cloth diaper and wet it with warm water. Clean the area and pat it dry with a dry cloth diaper. Why waste money buying diaper wipes that will just be thrown away? Using something you already have in the house that can be washed just makes more sense.

When your baby is drinking their bottle or being nursed, you can use the one size cloth diaper to keep the milk from dribbling on the baby. Instead of getting bibs to do this, use a cloth diaper instead. A bib can be hard to fasten on to some babies who are wigglier. The cloth diaper will simply rest under the baby’s chin to catch any milk that goes down the chin.

Finally, you may want to steal one of the cloth baby diapers for cleaning the house. Nothing is better for polishing wood than the best cloth diaper. They are lint free and give wood a good polish. You can also use them for cleaning windows and mirrors.

When you see the money you will save when you use what you have on hand for common tasks, you will never buy extra supplies again. There will be no late night trips to the store for a box of baby wipes. The uses are endless and you will probably come up with some new uses that are not listed here!

For people who want a more natural way to diaper their babies, using cloth diapers can be intimidating at first. It seems as though no matter how you put the cloth baby diapers on, they always fall off or they end up leaking on your brand new shirt. There are many methods for diapering a baby. All you need to do is learn one method that works for you and stick with it.

The square diaper is assumed to be the most difficult to use when cloth diapering. There may be a few more steps required, but it is really not very hard to do. You can use a couple of different methods. Try them and then choose the one that you are most comfortable with. Do not forget that you will need diaper pins and cloth diaper covers.

If you want to try the easiest method for using a square cloth diaper then you will lay out the diaper. Put the baby on the diaper and the take the end that is closet to you. Flip it over on itself so that it has an hourglass shape. Fold this around the baby’s waist and pin.

To pin the diaper, there is one tip and this is the most important if not obvious one. Never poke the baby with the pin. You can avoid doing this by placing the fingers of your left hand underneath the band of the diaper and where you are going to place the pin. When you insert the pin with the right hand, you will know if you go too far and you will poke yourself, not the baby!

Another method is to put the baby on the diaper with the narrower end underneath the baby. This is easier with a padded diaper but will work with the square diaper as well. Once you have the baby on the diaper, you will fold the two sides over to make a V shape. There will not be a large point as you want to have a few inches for the top of the diaper.

You will then bring the point end up between the baby’s legs. If the point end is a little long, you can fold it under and pin through it. Use the same pinning procedure as you used when doing the other fold. Again, you do not want to poke the baby.

If you have already decided that you do not feel comfortable pinning a cloth diaper on to a baby, you will want to look into another type of cloth diaper. You can get a cloth diaper that will be put on by Velcro. This issue with this is that the Velcro can some times get clogged and then it will not fasten properly.

Those who want to use cloth diapers should really not be intimidated by the pinning process. Practice with a doll until you get the hang of it. You can use many different types of folds that will allow you to choose the one that you are most comfortable with.

New mothers may not know why cloth baby diapers are the better option and should be chosen over disposable diapers. There are many reasons why this choice should be made. While disposable diapers can be convenient, they are not good for the planet. They can also wreak havoc on a wallet as well. Cloth diapers may take a bit more work, they are much better for the planet.

Let’s face it, it is so easy to take off a disposable diaper and throw it away. You can grab another one and tape that on to your baby. Bam! You are done changing the baby. Once you throw away the diaper, do you consider where this used diaper goes? They have not come up with a way to recycle disposable diapers so they end up at the dump or landfill.

Those who want to go green will appreciate that this is not good for the planet. Keeping down the trash that makes it to the landfill will preserve the planet that much longer. So this is one reason for using the cloth diapering method rather than using disposable diapers.

Another reason that cloth diapers are better for babies is that they will keep a baby from getting diaper rash better than disposable diapers. Disposable diapers are made to keep from leaking. This means that you may not know when baby has urinated in it. If you do not know it is wet, you will not know the baby needs changing.

A cloth diaper with a cloth diaper cover will allow you to know when the baby needs to be changed. While there will not be a good deal of leaking, you will be able to feel the diaper get heavier as soon as the mess has been made. This combination means that the baby will be changed more often and therefore there will be no time for a rash to grow.

There are even cloth diapers that are nearly the same as disposables. They look very similar in that they have a plastic outer portion and a soft cloth inner portion. This inner portion on a disposable diaper would be made of an absorbent fiber. The cloth diaper is closed with Velcro or snaps. This holds the diaper on the baby’s waist.

When the baby needs changing, you take it off, get read of any solid waste and throw it in the diaper pail just like any other cloth diaper. You wash them and dry them just like other types of fabric diapers as well. But they have the convenience of the disposable ones.

It does not take a lot of effort to figure out why cloth is better than disposable diapers. The ecology will benefit from using cloth since you will not be putting dirty diapers in a landfill or dump. Your baby’s bum will benefit as there will be less likelihood of diaper rash. Finally, some types of cloth are as easy to use as disposables.

There are two very distinct types of cloth baby diapers. There are the square diapers that need to be folded and attached with baby pins. The other type is the kind that comes with Velcro fasteners and they almost look like disposable diapers but they are not. They can be washed and reused just like other types of cloth diapers.

The Gerber cloth diapers are one of the most popular brands of the one size cloth diapers. These diapers can be folded to fit any baby size. There are two styles of this diaper. There is the square cloth diaper that is a thin piece of cloth that can be folded to fit the baby.

Gerber’s other type of diaper is the cloth diaper with padding that runs down the middle of it. This diaper also needs to be folded but offers more protection for older babies who make larger messes. The folding process for both of these diaper types is not hard to learn. It just takes a bit of practice to get the technique perfected.

The benefits of cloth diapering more than outweigh the time it will take to put them on. If there were a downside to the Gerber cloth diaper, it is that you will need cloth diaper covers to keep them from leaking. Again, these are washable so there is no major hassle from this. It is a minor inconvenience that many do not even consider when deciding on a cloth diaper.

If you simply feel as though you will never get the hang of folding and pinning diapers on your infant, then there is still an option for you. Kushies cloth diapers are form fitted and come with Velcro fastenings to allow for a perfect fit every time. You do not have to worry about messing with pins on a wiggly baby.

They do not require any cloth diaper covers either. They come with a cover built on to them. You can also adjust the padding to fit your baby’s needs. If they need more coverage in the front, you can place the padding there. The same goes with the back of the diaper.

While there seems to be many positives to the Kushies cloth diaper, there are a couple of down sides that may make the Gerber a better option. The Kushies may leak and some may feel more comfortable having an extra cover on them. Also, you can not use them for anything other than diapering babies as you can with the square diaper. You can use a square diaper as a burping cloth and for other things as well.

Your basic needs will determine the type of diaper that you will want to use on your baby. Some people will prefer the Gerber square cloth diaper and some people will prefer the fitted Kushies cloth diaper. Both diapers offer a quality of use for their own purposes. It is simple personal preference that will decide between these two brands and styles.

When it comes to baby products, Gerber sets the industry standard. This is a brand name that has been around for more decades than any other brand of baby item. Many people are moving back to the cloth baby diapers instead of using the disposable diapers that are clogging landfills. The Gerber cloth diapers are a great way to go green and to give your baby the comfort of cloth.

For any parent who is looking for an economical way to diaper their new baby, then cloth diapering is the way to go. You can get a package of cloth diapers that can be reused for the same cost as a pack of disposable diapers. Some people may say that you will spend just as much washing the diapers as you would on disposable but this is not true.

The Gerber cloth diapers are cost effective and offer you the protection from messes that you need and the comfort for the baby. You can purchase these in many different sizes and pack counts to fit any need you may have. Pregnant moms may want to put these on their registry so that they do not even have to purchase them.

The only issue with the Gerber cloth diapers is that some think that they are too thin. To many people, this is a positive aspect of this type of cloth diaper. A thin diaper can be put on a newborn baby without the risk of it falling off. You do not want a big bulky diaper on a tiny baby.

If you are looking for a thicker diaper for your larger baby who makes larger messes, then you will want the Gerber padded cloth diapers. These offer more protection and absorbency for older babies who will need it. You will also want to get some cloth diaper covers to keep their messes off the furniture and floor.

It is not hard to learn how to use cloth diapers. Many of the parenting classes offered in hospitals will offer a class on how to fold and diaper a baby with a cloth diaper. Once you get the folding technique down, putting them on the baby will come easy. Just make sure you do not poke them with the baby pins and you will be fine.

Another great reason to use the cloth diapering method is because of the green aspect of it. You will not be filling landfills with disposable diapers that do not biodegrade. It is important to use anything that can be reused or recycled. You can not get much more recyclable than washing diapers and using them again!

When it comes to the Gerber cloth diapers, you can get two different types. You can get the thin ones for younger babies and the thicker ones for the older ones. They are very easy to use and fold. You will be helping the planet by reusing diapers instead of throwing them away.
